Idea

A drone delivery platform that connects pilots with restaurants. COVID-19 is leading restaurants and their customers to look for delivery methods with no-contact. Our platform provides everything a restaurant needs to get started making drone deliveries within the current regulatory framework.

Current Status

We have a network of 1,700 drone pilots who are ready to start making deliveries. We have made sales of our drone delivery kits and have an iOS app on the store that autonomously controls drones.

Market

TAM: $11.6B

Problem or Opportunity

COVID-19 has led many people to look for no-contact alternatives for delivery. Restaurants are also looking for viable alternatives. Rivers around the globe separate businesses from potential customers by putting delivery drivers out of reasonable range from their customers and also present a massive opportunity for drone delivery.

Solution (product or service)

Zing’s drone delivery platform enables businesses around the globe to gain new customers that were previously out of reach.

Competitors

Wing is a drone delivery company that is pursuing Beyond Visual-Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) deliveries in Australia and the United States. They built a custom drone to complete deliveries but are extremely limited by current regulations.

Flytrex is a drone delivery company from Israel that also utilizes custom drones, but has not made much traction yet.

Manna is a drone delivery company from Ireland that is starting to do some COVID-19 related deliveries.

Advantages or differentiators

There are a few advantages of our platform. First off, our platform is built using the same drones that the vast majority of drone pilots know how to fly. In the United States for example, there are 170,000 pilots who have licenses to earn money using their drone. Over 90% of these licensed pilots own and fly the same drones that are compatible with our platform.

Our unique insight is that the long and arduous certification process to fly outside of the pilot's line of sight is not required. Rivers all throughout the globe are only a half mile across yet create logistical problems for delivery drivers around the ground. These deliveries can be completed and scaled up within the current aviation regulations in the majority of countries.

Business model

Zing will be a three-sided marketplace. We take a platform fee, the drone pilot gets paid a fixed rate per delivery, and the restaurant receives the rest of the money. We will charge a platform fee of around 20% that will be added to the menu items of each order. It is very similar to Uber Eats, except our drivers are drone pilots.

Money will be spent on

Hiring and scaling our drone delivery network globally.

Invention/Patent

The Zing Hook enables drones to drop off packages automatically without ever flying over anyone's head.
