Idea

BetterYou is a wellness coach that logs how we spend time to help us improve social, physical, and mental health. The app automatically tracks health progress and provides redirection at the opportune moment (help people get a walk in when they've been stuck at their desk all day, or to sleep and get off email at 2am), improving overall health in the process.

Here's How: (Slides attached, video overview https://youtu.be/PAxu86Z082E)

Current Status

BetterYou has seen an annualized growth rate of 3x over the last year, with MRR of $33k. If you'd like more information, click the link to request access.

Market

Workplace wellness is a $48 Billion opportunity growing at 6.4% annually (source). BetterYou has a TAM of $5.2 Billion split between workplace wellness and higher education. There are 142,000 companies with 200 or more employees in the US who have large group insurance or are self insured. At this level, health and wellness impacts bottom line through self-insurance premiums and absenteeism. There are 3,000 accredited colleges and universities in the US. They use BetterYou to improve students’ mental health and social connectedness, ultimately to improve student retention (their primary churn metric).

Problem or Opportunity

BetterYou is challenging the $48B workplace wellness industry. Historically, logging wellness has been manual, with employers asking people to do manual entry every day. BetterYou automatically logs how we spend time to help us improve social, physical, and mental health. We made keeping up with your health as easy as having your phone on you.

Competitors

The wellness industry is fragmented. Different apps do very different things with a focus either on goal setting and customization, or productivity. BetterYou combines the best elements of both approaches, enabling you to automatically log health progress back to meaningful goals.

Traditional health apps are needed for high touch areas: nutrition, biometrics. My phone doesn’t know what I had for lunch today. These areas in health are well defined and ripe for point solutions to bring interventions (Noom). BetterYou focuses on the other part of the market (physical health, social connection, mindfulness time). We’re displacing having to check boxes in the world of wellness, and this enables us to provide more relevance and value for users.

Advantages or differentiators

No Manual Entry
BetterYou is the first app to remove all manual entry fr om logging health progress. We use the power of the phone, leveraging things like App usage data (which wasn’t possible until we started doing it), location data, and phone sensors to give you credit for how you spend your week. Now my phone can give me credit automatically for calling Mom this week, spending an hour at the park wh ere I exercise, or getting off of Netflix and going to bed at a reasonable hour.

Real Time Nudges
BetterYou learns your habits. It learns the actions you take to achieve your goals and recognizes behaviors getting in your way. Is it 6:39 pm tonight
and you’re going for that 3rd Youtube video when you could be calling a friend instead? BetterYou will be there to get you out of the rabbit hole and
bring you back on track. This enables your time to be optimized not for
apps or advertisers but for the things that matter most in your life.
